A two-hour gently paced activity including a short guided walk and workshop- get some steps in and spend some time using all of your available senses to see, hear, explore and experience Byres Road with urban studies eyes
In this activity, participants can expect to learn about SPS and city planning research methods (field drawing skills, sound mapping, found poetry and mental maps) and how these can help explore and explain urban issues. The walk is gently paced and accessible and showcases the immediate area around the Arc, including University estate buildings, tenement sculptures and local facilities. During the walk, participants undertake guided activities in drawing architectural features and observational activities used in urban studies research. Following completion of the walk, participants gather at the Arc and create a mental map of the walk, discuss their findings and experiences and are invited to display their maps in the Arc.
