What’s on offer?

In 1866, an explosion at Oaks Colliery in Barnsley killed and injured hundreds of miners and those who had come to their aid. This multi-media event combines a film screening, exhibition, music and readings to explore the impact of England’s worst coal mining disaster on the communities surrounding the colliery, and 21st century efforts to rediscover and memorialise industrial and social heritage. It includes a screening of award-winning documentary film ‘Black Snow,’ followed by Q+A with Director Stephen Linstead and Stephen Miller; an exhibition of mining artefacts and banners organised by volunteers from charity People and Mining; as well as song, poetry and readings with Jed Grimes.
