Poverty, everyday crisis and social security: How do we fix the state we’re in?

What’s on offer?

As the cost of living crisis sweeps across the UK, it is more important than ever to listen and learn from people struggling to get by on low incomes. Since the autumn of 2022, the Changing Realities participatory online project has been documenting life on a low income in the UK, and pushing for change.

This webinar will share a manifesto for change based on the work of Changing Realities, and reflect on how the peer support available through the project itself makes change. This is especially timely as it will come just before the Chancellor delivers his Autumn budget, with key decisions ahead of him in terms of supporting families in poverty.

With responses from Alison Garnham (CPAG) and Tom Pollard (New Economics Foundation).

Who’s leading the event?

Ruth Patrick (Professor of Social Policy, University of York); Chaired by Jackie Long (Channel 4 News)
