What’s on offer?

A panel discussion on the role of black women in social, cultural and political movements historically and in our times.

What’s it about?

The theme for Black History Month 2023 is ‘‘Celebrating our Sisters, Saluting our Sisters, and Honouring Matriarchs of Movements’’. The panel will analyse the role of black women in social, cultural and political movements historically and today.

Who’s leading the event?

  • Dr Mame-Fatou Niang, Associate Professor of French and Francophone Studies at the Carnegie Mellon University
  • Dr SM Rodriguez, Assistant Professor in the Department of Gender Studies at LSE
  • Chaired by Professor Joanna Lewis, Chair of the LSE Centre for Women, Peace and Security

This public event is free and open to all. This event will be a hybrid event, with an in-person audience and an online audience.
