This online site will help families to enjoy fun days out on a tight budget. Inspired by research to improve public financial wellbeing, the site will run for the duration of FOSS, and will:
- Share ideas for cheap or free family days out.
- Get families involved in sharing their ideas by entering The Best Value Family Day Out Ever! competition. The best idea will win a prize.
- Provide free access to budgeting and savings tools and information about sources of help for those who are financially struggling.
- Offer money saving hacks for families, through a series of expert blogs.
This event will help children and families facing the cost-of-living crisis find ways to enjoy good value family days out. It will reflect the cost-of-living crisis and will support families managing on tight household budgets.
To engage children with these issues, the event will stimulate and share ideas about good value family days out. Visitors to the site will view suggestions for cheap days out and be encouraged to share their own ideas for The Best Family Day Out Ever! competition.
As half-term holiday falls within FOSS, this is a topical way to get families talking about how they manage their finances.
Money-saving hacks and free tools to help families manage their money more effectively will also be available. There will be free access to the Moneyskills app, which provides tips on budgeting, saving and setting financial goals. The included content is based on the results of financial wellbeing research carried out by the Centre for Business in Society, Coventry University.
