Should a test help us decide who can become British?

Since launching in 2005, the “Life in the UK” test has been sat by over 2.5 million people. The test is required for citizenship or even permanent residency. This interactive talk discusses the use of citizenship tests generally and invites audiences to think about what is Britishness and how it might work.

Led by the UK’s leading expert who helped launch a Parliamentary inquiry into the test’s use, the event promises to show something new about becoming British – and the difficulty of creating a civics test for it.
